Her tips include doing your research and understanding the risks and rewards of investing to making sure you’re asking the right questions and investing in a way that works for you. Also, be sure to hire help when needed, because you’re not going to know everything all the time, and don’t get emotionally invested in your investments.

“So often when we invest our money, we get very emotionally connected to it, and we look at the investment every day … and then we tend to make irrational decisions,” she says. “But remember what the objectives are with the money.
