You know Daymond John as a multi-millionaire marketing mogul and a judge on ABC’s hit show Shark Tank. But in 1989, he just was a struggling entrepreneur, trying to get his clothing line, FUBU, off the ground.

Those early days weren’t just tough — they were isolating. He closed FUBU three times between 1989 and 1992, in part because he says he didn’t have anyone to talk to. Says John, “I felt like I was alone.”

To give entrepreneurs the community he didn’t have, he’s since founded Blueprint + Co., a coworking space in Midtown Manhattan.
